MASS We hope and expect that each high schooler and their family participates on a weekly basis in the Mass. (If you don’t understand what happens there or why it’s important, I invite you to borrow and read “The How To Book of the Mass” or “The Lambs Supper” from the LT Office. Both are very interesting reads.)
COMMUNITY LIFE These are FUN (predominantly social) opportunities to get involved in the life of the parish! We are social beings, made for community! We’re each part of the body of Christ and we need to stay connected if the Church is to flourish like God intends.
CATHOLIC ACTION These are opportunities to put your faith into action by living Catholic Social Teaching. (This is not the same as “community service,” so many of the options that counted for service hours in 7th & 8th grade--serving food at fish frys, babysitting-- do not fall into this category.) The 7 themes of CST are briefly explained here.
PRAYER These are opportunities to pray—in a whole wide variety of forms. The Catholic Church is rich with aids to prayer. Find something that works for you right now, and just do it!
APOLOGETICS These are opportunities to explore some of the more difficult and/or often mis-understood church-teachings.
These are the areas of Catholic Life which we hope you'll be involved in during one:eight and throughout high school!
Confirmation Candidates must choose 1 way to participate in each area before they get Confirmed.
