| Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. –Matthew 7:7-8 As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. –Acts 4:31 Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? –1 Corinthians 3:16 |

| Dear Candidate,
This is an exciting time! Up until now your Catholic faith has belonged to your parents—they’ve likely made you go to Religious Ed classes, Masses, etc. It’s almost time for the choice to be yours. This year will be an adventure of discovery—of asking questions, participating in prayer and sacramental experiences like never before, and belonging to an active community of faith. It is my prayer that this will be a year filled with excitement, a-ha! moments and lively encounters with the face of God—He waits for you! He calls you to great things. And this year especially, He empowers you with His Spirit to do them! This is your invitation to live a new, abundant life in Christ. I don’t know where you’re coming from—I don’t know if you go to a Mass every Sunday or never. I don’t know if you actually consider yourself a Christian or if you’re just going through the motions. I don’t know what hurts, joys or frustrations you have in your life. What I do know is that if you come to the cross, just as you are—if this year for 5 months you set aside all the preconceived thoughts you have about Church and Religious Education, Catholicism and Christians—positive or negative—and start fresh, seeking the face of God, you will find it. And you will be amazed. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. –Matthew 7:7-8 There is great truth, beauty and love to be found in Christ’s Church. I’ll pray this year that you do find them. I’ll pray that this year will be fun. That it will be challenging. That it will be life-changing. Whether I never get to know you personally or we become the best of friends, I’m praying for you. God is raising up a new generation of disciples and you are it. May He bless you abundantly in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Laura Coordinator of Youth Ministry |
